Youth Council Next Generation – Capacity building Activity 4 – Organizing events and importance of the digital skills

As part of the dissemination on the Erasmus + project “Increasing Quality of Activities Targeting Rural Youth”, our organization created and coordinated 8 capacity building activities.

The fifth activity took part on 26th of August, 2019 in the office of Center for tourism training and research, and 10 young people attended.

The participants had a warm welcome, and the Staff presented themselves and their role in the organization. Then they held a short presentation about our organization, and our main aims and goals. Also the aim of this event was explained.

In order to get to know each other, the participants played few name games and energizers, such as “Story of my name and why I am special” and “What we have in common”.

The main aim on this event was to equip youth workers, young leaders and stakeholders with skills, knowledge and competencies in the field of ICT (Information and Communication Technology). Through it we prepared volunteers and young people how to use the skills and knowledge learned during the activity, in their work with young people. Youth workers gained the knowledge and skills to organize smaller projects, seminars, workshops, etc. based mainly on non-formal educational methods and tools.

After the teaching part, we gave the participants few tasks, to create a plan for organized activity, to prepare how they would present it on social media, etc. After the preparation time, participants presented their work. Each presentation had a constructive feedback and comments of how and where they can do better, given by the trainer.

During this activity, we also achieved raising the awareness for the importance of the digital skills in today’s competitive world; Participants understood what is behind the term “digital image” and how essential is in order to find a job or start a new business. They developed few digital marketing skills.

After this, the staff held a presentation of the Erasmus + programme, and it’s many possibilities for the youth, with Q&A session. Then the participants played a Kahoot quiz, just so they can see how much they learned about Erasmus + programme.

The project “Increasing Quality of Activities Targeting Rural Youth” was presented and also future events, projects and possibilities that the participants can take part in.

This event was important for the participants because they had the opportunity to learn something valuable, since it is very important for youth to know about the practical use of the digital skills.

During the event, different tools from non-formal education were used as interesting name games, presentations, discussions, questions and answers session etc.
